Personal Life
캔사스주 허치슨에서 태어났으며, 엔터테인먼트계에 배우로서 무대에 서면서 데뷔하였다. 이후 1921년 모션픽처스사에서 배우와 연출로 영화계에 발을 들여 놓았다.
그는 180편에 가까운 영화의 감독을 맡았다. 그의 첫 장편 영화는 MGM사 작품 <Last of the Pagans, 1935>였고, 후에 1967년 <The Last Challenge>의 감독을 맡았다. 그는 1991년 캘리포니아 팜스프링스에서 숨을 거두었다. 소프는 <The Wizard OZ>의 오리지널 감독이었다.
