데비 앨런은 미국의 댄서, 가수이자 배우이며, 안무가, 무대 연출, TV 연출, TV 프로듀서로 활동하고 있다. 그녀는 1982년 TV 시리즈 <Fame>에서 라디아 그랜트 역을 맡았었다.
미국 텍사스 주, 휴스턴에서 태어났으며, 어릴 때부터 춤을 배웠고, 최연소 댄서로 학교에서 춤을 가르쳤다. 그녀는 안무가로 LA에서 활동하면서 배우, 연출, 프로듀서로서 활동하였다.
데비는 앨런은 Purlie 쇼의 코러스로 브로드웨이에 데뷔하였다. 뮤지컬 <Raisin>에서 베네사 역을 맡아 토니어워드에서 여우조연상을 수상하였다. 1980년 리바이벌 뮤지컬 <West Side Story>로 토니어워드, 드라마 데스크 어워드에 노미네이트 되었고, 1986년에는 밥 포시의 <Sweet Charity>에 출연하여 토니어워드에 노미네이트 되었다. TV 시트콤 <Good Times>에 출연하였고, 1980년 영화 <Fame>에 라디아 그랜트 역으로 출연하였다. TV 시리즈로 제작된 동며으이 작품에 1982년부터 1987년까지 출연하였고, 영화와 TV 시리즈에 안무를 담당하였다. 그녀는 두 개의 에미어워드와 한 개의 골든 글로브 어워드 상을 수상하였다. 이후 TV 시리즈 프로그램인 <Hollywood Reporter>, <A Different World>에 프로듀서와 연출을 맡았다.
2008년 퓰리처 상을 수상한 테네시 윌리암스의 연극 <Cat on a Hot Tin Roof>을 African-American Broadway 프로덕션에서 제작하고 그녀가 연출하였다. 그녀는 “So You Think You Can Dance”에서 심사위원을 맡고 있기도 하다.
