미국 극작가
구아르는 대표 작품으로는 <The House of Blue Leave>, <Six Degrees of Separation>, <Lendscape of the Body>이 있다. 코믹하면서도 인간관계, 희망, 동정심, 끈끈한 정, 냉정함 등을 모두 담고 있는 것이 그의 극의 스타일이다.
구아르는 뉴욕에서 태어나고 자랐다. 그는 죠지타운 대학과 예일대를 졸업하였다. 1968년<Muzeeka>로 오비에 어워드를 수상하였고, 71년에 <The House of Blue Leave>로 토니어워드, 뉴욕 드라마 크리틱 서클 어워드에서 수상하였다. 1990년 그의 히트 연극 대본은 <Six Degrees of Separation>으로 이 작품은 연극과 영화화 되었다.
