알버트 해켓은 미국 드라마작가, 영화시나리오작가로 활동하였다. 그는 항상 그의 아내 프란시스 굳리치와 작업을 하였다.
해켓은 1920년 후반 파라마운트사의 작품 <Up Pops the Devil>을 썼다. 1933년부터 1939년까지 MGM에서 일했다. 영화 <The Thin Man, 1934>을 썼고, <After the Thin Man, 1936>, <Father of the Bride, 1950>, <Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, 1955>등의 작품을 썼다.
이 외에도 <Easter Parade, 1949>, <Father's Little Dividend, 1951>, <Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, 1954>, <The Diary of Anne Frank, 1959>, <In the Good Old Summertime, 1949>, <Father of the Bride, 1950>, <The Long, Long Trailer, 1954>등의 작품을 썼다. 특히 <The Diary of Anne Frank>는 1955년 연극으로 먼저 발표되었으며, 이 작품으로 퓰리처상을 수상하였다.
