그는 런던에 있는 하이게이트 스쿨에서 교육 받았고, 올드 빅 씨어터 스쿨에서 연출을 사사 받았다.
TV 프로그램, 영화 등을 연출하였고, 국립극장 조연출, 협력 연출을 맡았다가 연극의 연출을 시작하였다.
