이태리계 미국인으로 배우, 가수로 활동하였다.
<The Color of Money>에서 카르멘 역을 맡아 잘 알려졌으며, <The Abyss>, <Scarface>, <Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves> 등에 출연하였다.

일리노이즈주 롬바드 출생. 일리노이즈 오크파크에서 자랐고 일리노이즈 대학을 졸업하였다.

브라이언 드팔마의 영화 <Scarface>에서 지나로 출연한 것이 그녀의 첫 번째 작품이었다. 톰크루즈와 폴 뉴먼과 함께 출연한 <The Color of Money>에서는 카르멘을 맡아 오스카와 골든 글로브에 노미네이트 되었다. 1980년 <Slam Dance>, <The January Man> 등에 출연하였고, 제임스 카메론의 영화 <The Abyss>와 <Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves>에 출연하였다.

1992년 <Consenting Adults>, <The Perfect Storm, 2000>, <Without a Trace> 등에 출연하였다.
브로드웨이에서는 뮤지컬 <West Side Story>, <Copperfield>, <The Human Comedy>, 2002년 리바이벌 뮤지컬 <Man of La Mancha>에 출연하였고, 토니어워드에 여우주연상 등에 노미네이트 되었다.
